Educational

KidArtXMas (free) - Christmas may be over but it's still a fun - and free! - app for kids to create little fun pictures. You can save your child's artwork as well. If you want more themes, you can buy others including Kid Art for 99 cents
Just Find It (free) - older kids find the differences between two scenes
Zoo Sounds (free) - a neat program that plays sounds corresponding to the picture of the animal. Sadly, it's limited to only 4 animals.
Animal Sounds ($1.99) - if you like Zoo Sounds, then you'd love this app which features 36 animals
Letter Peak Lite (free) - great app for toddlers; can choose male or female voice and kids can click on the letter (in upper & lower case) to reveal a word and picture starting with that letter. For example, touching A reveals Apple. The free version goes up to letter H. For 99 cents you get the full alphabet but it looks like only one word/picture for each letter. Still a nice intro for young kids. There's also one for numbers
iWrite Words Lite (free) - a very fun way for kids to learn to write by having them help Mr. Crab trace letters. Letters & words are said aloud to reinforce letter & word recognition. The free app is limited to a few letters & words; the full program iWrite Words costs $1.99

Helpful

Baby Book ($4.99) - only app of its kind that we could find on iTunes. Track your baby's growth, milestones & more plus photos
Baby Activity Logger ($4.99; iPhone only) - more specifically track what your baby does: eat, sleep, diaper changes & has a chart tracker to see how these activities compare from day to day
